East African curriculum bodies

ALE aligns its curriculum coverage to the syllabi and standards published by the national curriculum and examinations bodies of the East African countries we serve. Standard codes and syllabus outlines are referenced for alignment. Official standard text, examinable questions, and past-paper items remain the intellectual property of their respective bodies and are not redistributed.

  • Kenya — Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD, Competency-Based Curriculum Grade 1–9) and Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC, KCPE / KCSE syllabi).
  • Uganda — National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC, Lower- and Upper-Secondary curriculum) and Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB, PLE / UCE / UACE syllabi).
  • Rwanda — Rwanda Basic Education Board (REB, Competency-Based Curriculum) and the National Examinations and School Inspection Authority (NESA, primary and O-level / A-level national exams).
  • Tanzania — Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE, primary and secondary curricula) and the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA, PSLE / CSEE / ACSEE syllabi).
  • Ethiopia — Ministry of Education General Education Curriculum Framework and the Ethiopian Educational Assessment and Examinations Service (EAES, Grade 8 and Grade 12 national exams).
KICD, KNEC, NCDC, UNEB, REB, NESA, TIE, NECTA, the Ethiopian Ministry of Education, and EAES publications remain the intellectual property of their respective bodies. ALE is not endorsed by any of them.
